Operational Information for the Fayetteville Area System of Transit
The Fayetteville Area System of Transit is a City of Fayetteville
department. The system serves areas that lie within the city's
municipal boundaries. It operates 10 routes and travels 733,605
revenue miles annually. It serves 1,003,000 riders annually.
All of the fixed-route buses are wheelchair lift equipped to
serve the disabled community. All of the buses are radio equipped
to facilitate uninterrupted service and safety. All of the buses
will be equipped in 2001 with surveillance cameras for added
safety.
Operating
hours are from 5:45 AM to 7:30 PM Monday thru Friday. On Saturdays
they operate from 7:30 AM to 7:30PM.
In
addition to the fixed-route buses they operate a complimentary
Paratransit service for those qualifying under the Americans with
Disabilities Act. This service operates the same time and in the
same area as the fixed-route system. Individuals desiring to use
this service must be certified in accordance with the ADA provisions.
The
Fayetteville Area System of Transit also operates a coordinated
human services transportation system. Transportation is provided
to those human services agencies that have entered into a contract
with the City of Fayetteville for those services. Transportation
is provided to all areas of Cumberland County. Individual that
are designated by a human service agency use this system.
