| Fayetteville Area Boasts Two 5-Star Golf Courses |

Fayetteville, NC – Tobacco Road and Anderson Creek Golf Clubs were honored with a Five Star Rating from the North Carolina Magazine Golf Panel’s 2004 listing of North Carolina’s Top 100 Golf Courses. The courses ranked #34 and #35 respectively.
Both courses have won numerous honors – Best New Course in North Carolina 2001 (Anderson Creek Golf Club), a ranking in the top 10 of upscale public courses and a 4.5 star ranking from Golf Digest (Tobacco Road).
Designed by Davis Love III, Anderson Creek was his first signature course in North Carolina and winner of the Best New Course in NC award in 2001. It offers a traditional layout with rolling emerald fairways lined with longleaf pines and natural areas highlighted with love grass. The greens’ large roll-off areas and significant undulations offer a glimpse into the classic Donald Ross architecture seen throughout the Sandhills of North Carolina.
Designed by Mike Stantz and opened in 1999, Tobacco Road Golf course has been described as “Pine Valley on steroids” and “golf’s rock and roll thrill ride.” This unique course carves its way through an old rock quarry. Playing at a length of 6500 yards from the Ripper tees, Tobacco Road was rated as high as second in slope to the famed Ocean Curse at Kiawah Island.
“Its wonderful that two of our area courses were ranked as two of the best in the state,” says John Meroski, Fayetteville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau president and CEO. “These are just two of the 14 courses available in the area. We offer something for every taste and budget.”
The Fayetteville area is located just off I-95, exactly ˝-way between New York and Florida. The area offers an economical and diverse location, with a range of courses and amenities available and temperate weather that allows golf to be played throughout the year.
