For
the past 40 years, Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC)
has served the citizens of Fayetteville and Cumberland County
by providing quality educational programs. .
Competency-based
instruction, qualified faculty, and state-of-the-art facilities
provide the base for the technical training of FTCC studentsServing
over 41,000 students annually, approximately 13,000 in curriculum
programs and 28,000 in non-credit continuing education courses,
FTCC ranks as the second-largest community college in the state.The
College serves a large military population with off-campus course
offerings at Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base.
FTCC
offers over 110 degree, certificate, and diploma programs in
four program areas to meet the needs and interest of the student
population of Cumberland County. The majority of classes are
offered in the traditional on-campus classroom setting; however
in response to student demand and the availability of technology,
classes are offered through a variety of distance learning modes,
including the North Carolina Information Highway, Internet, telecourses,
and college-by-cassette. Seventeen of the degree programs are
nationally accredited, with several others holding state and
regional accreditations. To complement the technical education,
the College offers transfer programs with a wide array of arts
and science courses transferable to the University of North Carolina
System and to private colleges.
FTCC
is a pioneer in the development and delivery of alternative educational
offerings. Beginning with telecourses in 1981, two-way interactive
video conferencing in 1995, and culminating in the first online
Internet-based college courses in North Carolina in 1996, FTCC
provides a flexible learning environment tailored for an active
workforce. "Just in time" training for a diverse workforce
is a hallmark of the technology-enhanced courses and programs
available at FTCC. In 2001, over 3200 students continued their
education from their home or workplace via distance learning
opportunities at FTCC.
The
Continuing Education Division coordinates a variety of non-curricular,
non-credit educational programs. The Division provides opportunities
in the six distinct areas of Basic Skills Education, Extension
Education, Occupational Extension Education, Industry Services,
Emergency Services, and Community Services. The Continuing Education
Division offers courses and programs from basic reading and writing
instruction to advanced courses in technical fields.

A staff of workforce development professionals are prepared to
tailor classes to meet your needs, to assist in finding training
funds, to provide space on the campus for training, or to bring
the training to the business site.
Ninety-six
percent of the FTCC graduates in 2000 were working within four
