Where to Stay in Fayetteville, NC: Best Areas & Hotels (2026)
For most visitors, the best area to stay in Fayetteville, NC is Skibo Road near Cross Creek Mall, which has the largest cluster of hotels, restaurants and quick access to Fort Bragg. Choose I-95 Exit 49 on Cedar Creek Road for an overnight road-trip stop, Spring Lake for the north side of Fort Bragg, or the MacPherson House on Hay Street to stay near downtown.
Fayetteville's hotels are not spread evenly across the city. They sit in a few clusters, and the right one depends on why you are coming: a Fort Bragg graduation, a PCS move, a tournament, a downtown event or a one-night stop on I-95. This guide compares the four main areas and names hotels in each whose Google Maps listings showed them operating in October 2026. It does not list nightly rates, because prices here swing sharply with graduations, homecomings and holiday weekends. Check the hotel directly for current rates.
The four areas at a glance
| Area | Best for | Drive to downtown | Drive to Fort Bragg |
|---|---|---|---|
| Skibo Road and Cross Creek Mall | Most visitors, families, longer stays | Moderate | Short, via the All American Freeway |
| I-95 Exit 49 (Cedar Creek Road) | Road-trip overnights | Moderate | Longest of the four |
| Downtown and Haymount | Museums, Segra Stadium, 4th Friday | None | Moderate |
| Spring Lake and the north side | The northern gates and units on that side of post | Longer | Short |
Drive times in Fayetteville depend heavily on the time of day and on gate traffic at Fort Bragg. If you have a fixed report time on post, test the drive the day before.
Skibo Road and Cross Creek Mall
This is the city's main hotel district, on the west side around Cross Creek Mall, Skibo Road, Lake Valley Drive and Sycamore Dairy Road. It puts you close to the largest concentration of chain restaurants and shopping in the region, and to the All American Freeway toward Fort Bragg.
Hotels confirmed open in this area:
- Embassy Suites by Hilton Fayetteville Fort Bragg, 4760 Lake Valley Dr.
- SpringHill Suites by Marriott Fayetteville Fort Bragg, 4750 Lake Valley Dr.
- Hilton Garden Inn Fayetteville Fort Bragg, 4025 Sycamore Dairy Rd.
- Home2 Suites by Hilton Fayetteville Fort Bragg, 4035 Sycamore Dairy Rd. (kitchen suites)
- Hampton Inn Fayetteville Fort Bragg, 1700 Skibo Rd.
- Four Points by Sheraton Fayetteville Fort Bragg, 1706 Skibo Rd.
- Residence Inn by Marriott Fayetteville Cross Creek, 1468 Skibo Rd. (kitchen suites)
- Tru by Hilton Fayetteville Fort Bragg, 507 N. McPherson Church Rd.
Why stay here: you can walk or drive a few minutes to dinner, there are several suite hotels with kitchens for longer stays, and the gate drive is short. Drawback: Skibo Road traffic is heavy at rush hour and on weekends. For more on the shopping side, see the Cross Creek Mall and Skibo retail guide.
I-95 Exit 49 (Cedar Creek Road)
Exit 49 is where NC 53 and NC 210 meet I-95 on the south side of the city, and it has a strip of hotels on Cedar Creek Road built for travelers stopping overnight between the Northeast and Florida.
Hotels confirmed open here:
- Holiday Inn Express & Suites Fayetteville South, 1894 Cedar Creek Rd.
- Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Fayetteville I-95, 1925 Cedar Creek Rd.
- Quality Inn & Suites Fayetteville I-95, 1957 Cedar Creek Rd.
- Days Inn by Wyndham Fayetteville-South/I-95 Exit 49, 2111 Cedar Creek Rd.
Why stay here: in and out of the interstate in minutes, with gas and fast food at the exit. Drawback: it is the farthest area from Fort Bragg and from the restaurants on the west side. It is a fine choice for one night and a weak one for a week of graduation events on post.
Downtown and Haymount
Downtown has very few rooms, which surprises visitors who want to walk to dinner or a Woodpeckers game.
- The MacPherson House, 701 Hay St., is a bed and breakfast on the Haymount end of Hay Street, a short drive or a longer walk from the downtown restaurants. It is the closest lodging to the Haymount Historic District and the Museum of the Cape Fear.
- Extended Stay America Select Suites, Fayetteville, 770 W. Rowan St., is on the edge of downtown and suits budget-minded longer stays.
A new hotel is in the works: in November 2025 the city approved a project that would put a five-story, 119-room hotel and an apartment building on the Hay Street parking deck that overlooks Segra Stadium. No opening date had been announced as of October 2026.
Why stay here: you can walk to the Market House, the museums on Bragg Boulevard, Segra Stadium and 4th Friday. Drawback: limited choice, so book early for event weekends.
Spring Lake and the north side of Fort Bragg
Spring Lake is a small town on the north side of Fort Bragg, along Bragg Boulevard (NC 24/87). For families attending events on that side of post, it can save a long cross-town drive.
- Courtyard by Marriott Fayetteville Fort Bragg Spring Lake, 120 N. 5th St., Spring Lake.
- Hampton Inn Spring Lake Fayetteville, 1050 N. Bragg Blvd., Spring Lake.
Ask your service member which gate they use before you book. If you plan to drive onto post without a Department of Defense ID, read the Fort Bragg visitor access guide first, because you will need a visitor pass. For more on the town itself, see the Spring Lake guide.

Booking tips
- Graduation and homecoming weeks fill fast. Book as soon as you have dates, and choose a refundable rate if the date might move.
- Ask about military and government rates. Many hotels near Fort Bragg offer them; bring the required ID at check-in.
- Suites help on long stays. Home2 Suites and Residence Inn on the west side have kitchens, which matters for PCS families and week-long visits.
- Check the event calendar. Large tournaments and festivals can tighten rooms citywide. Our events and festivals calendar lists the big weekends.
- Read recent reviews. Older economy properties along the interstate vary a lot in upkeep; look at reviews from the past few months before booking.
