Dentists in Fayetteville, NC: Family, Kids, TRICARE & Low-Cost

By FayettevilleNC.net Editorial Staff•••1034 words

Fayetteville dentists we confirmed open in October 2026 include Lane & Associates on Robeson Street, CarolinasDentist on Glensford Drive, Village Family Dental on Valleygate Drive and Day & Night Family Dental on Skibo Road, which advertises seven-day scheduling. Military families buy the TRICARE Dental Program, retirees use FEDVIP, and uninsured residents can try the county health department or The CARE Clinic.

Fayetteville has a deep bench of dental offices, from regional chains with extended hours to long-running family practices near Haymount and Owen Drive. The harder part for many residents is matching an office to their coverage: active duty members, military families, retirees, Medicaid members and uninsured adults each go through a different system. This guide lists offices we confirmed were operating in October 2026 and explains how each type of coverage works locally.

This is general information, not dental or medical advice.

Hours change often, so check each office's site or call before you go, especially for evening and weekend slots.

Children's Dentists

Families with young children often prefer a pediatric dental office, where the staff and equipment are set up for kids and children with special health care needs.

  • Dino Kids Dental of Fayetteville, 1916 Skibo Rd, Suite C5, (910) 965-0123
  • Highland Pediatric Dental, 1367 Walter Reed Rd, Suite 103, (910) 485-8749

Many general dentists also see children. Ask at what age the office starts seeing kids and whether parents can stay in the treatment room.

Oral Surgeons

Wisdom teeth, implants and complex extractions usually go to an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, often by referral from your general dentist.

  • Sandhills Oral Surgery, 3011 Boone Trail Extension, (910) 483-9216
  • Carolina Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Center, 413 Owen Dr, Suite 102, (910) 480-4890

Dental Coverage for Military Families

Dental care in the military system is split by who you are:

  • Active duty service members receive dental care through military dental clinics on Fort Bragg. You do not buy a separate plan.
  • Active duty family members can buy the TRICARE Dental Program (TDP), a separate, premium-based plan administered by United Concordia. Enrollment is not automatic, so sign up after you arrive or when you add a dependent. Use the United Concordia TDP site to find Fayetteville dentists in its network.
  • National Guard and Reserve members can enroll in the TDP when they are not on active orders, and their families can enroll too.
  • Retirees and their family members are not eligible for the TDP. They can buy dental coverage through the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP), usually during the federal benefits open season each fall.

The Fort Bragg relocation guide covers the rest of the in-processing steps, and the off-post housing guide can help you choose an office close to where you end up living.

NC Medicaid Dental

NC Medicaid includes dental benefits for children and adults. Coverage details and limits change, so check the current list of covered services with NC Medicaid and ask the office whether it is accepting new Medicaid patients before you schedule. The state's Division of Public Health keeps a county-by-county list of dentists who accept Medicaid, linked from its Safety Net Dental Clinic page.

Low-Cost and Safety-Net Dental Care

The North Carolina Division of Public Health's safety-net list (updated September 2026) includes these Cumberland County options:

ClinicWherePhone
Cumberland County Health DepartmentFayetteville(910) 433-3613
The CARE Clinic239 Robeson St, Fayetteville(910) 485-0555
Anderson Creek Dental ClinicSpring Lake(910) 435-3194
Stedman Family Dental CenterStedman(910) 483-3150

The CARE Clinic offers free simple extractions to eligible low-income, uninsured adults. It does not pull wisdom teeth, clean teeth or make dentures or partials, so plan accordingly. Call any safety-net clinic first to ask about eligibility, sliding fees and wait times.

Dental Emergencies

A cracked tooth, a lost filling or a toothache that keeps you up at night is a reason to call your dentist first thing. Offices with extended hours, such as Day & Night Family Dental, may be able to fit you in the same day.

Go to an emergency room, such as Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, or call 911 if facial swelling is spreading, affects your breathing or swallowing, or comes with a high fever, or if you have a jaw injury from an accident. Urgent care clinics can help with pain and infection while you wait for a dental appointment; see the Fayetteville urgent care guide for locations.

How to Choose a Dentist

  1. Confirm your network. TDP, FEDVIP, Medicaid and private plans each publish their own directory. Call the office to double-check, because directories lag.
  2. Ask about new-patient availability. The wait for a first cleaning can be weeks at busy practices; ask to be put on a cancellation list.
  3. Look at location and hours. If you commute to Fort Bragg, an office along Skibo Road, Glensford Drive or Raeford Road may be easier than one downtown.
  4. Ask what is done in-house. Some offices handle root canals and implants themselves; others refer out to specialists.
  5. Request a written estimate for any work beyond a cleaning, with your insurance portion broken out.

If you are still setting up care, the primary care guide covers finding a doctor on the same coverage.
