Cumberland County Schools Enrollment: Fayetteville Guide

By FayettevilleNC.net Editorial Staff•Verification & Data Standards••635 words

Step-by-step Cumberland County Schools (CCS) enrollment guide for Fayetteville families and incoming military households, covering address-based school confirmation via Find My School, Infinite Campus online application submission, immunization and residency document preparation, school-level completion steps, and military family conditional high-school assignment and Interstate Compact (MIC3) rules.

To enroll a new student in Cumberland County Schools (CCS), confirm the address-based school, submit the district's online application for the correct school year and wait for that school's instructions. Do not treat online submission alone as completed enrollment.

District guidance checked September 16, 2026. This guide explains the process; CCS determines assignment, acceptable documents and eligibility.

1. Confirm the school and school year

Start on the CCS enrollment page and follow its Find My School link. Use the student's actual address rather than a neighborhood name or ZIP code. The page currently links to Infinite Campus enrollment for 2026-2027.

Before applying, confirm the student's grade and intended start date. For a move, transfer, special assignment or uncertain address, ask Student Assignment which process applies before assuming that the closest school is the assigned school.

2. Submit the online application

Open Infinite Campus through the official enrollment page and select the correct year. Keep the application confirmation and copies of what you submit.

If you cannot complete the online process, CCS directs families to the base school's data manager for help. Avoid sending student identity or health documents to a third-party guide or an unverified email address.

3. Prepare documents and confirm what the school accepts

Use the district's current grade-specific document instructions and ask the school which forms are acceptable. As a preparation checklist, gather proof of the student's age, residency information, parent or guardian identification, immunization records, available school records and any relevant custody or guardianship documents.

This preparation list is not a substitute for the district's required-document checklist. Ask specifically about additional requirements for kindergarten, a transfer from another state or a particular family circumstance.

If records are missing or your housing situation is unsettled, contact Student Assignment for the applicable process. Do not assume that a missing document means you should postpone asking for enrollment help.

4. Wait for the school's completion instructions

After online submission, CCS says to wait for contact from the assigned school. The district advises that completing enrollment may take 24-72 business hours. That is a processing estimate, not a requirement to appear in person within that period.

Follow the school's instructions about any remaining documents or appointment. Confirm the student's start date and ask how to obtain class, transportation, meal and parent-account information.

Military families: check the rule for your address and grade

Families connected with Fort Bragg should confirm which school system and assignment process applies to the student's address and grade. Do not assume that every student living on the installation follows the same CCS process.

A CCS notice published May 4, 2026 describes a high-school election process for qualifying children of active-duty personnel who reside on Fort Bragg. It identifies E. E. Smith as the default assignment and sets conditions for choosing another comprehensive high school. An approved election must precede enrollment at the selected school and requires annual renewal. Families generally provide transport to the selected school; the notice identifies limited transportation exceptions.

This is not unrestricted choice for every military-connected student. Read the notice and contact Student Assignment before relying on it. For a military-related transfer, the district's Military Interstate Children's Compact information is another starting point for asking about applicable support.

Enrollment contacts

Student Assignment is listed at 2465 Gillespie Street, Fayetteville, NC 28306, with phone 910-678-2616. Use it for assignment, residency and family-circumstance questions; use the assigned school's data manager for help with an application already underway.

For preschool, follow the separate Pre-Kindergarten information on the enrollment page. The district lists the Pre-Kindergarten Center at 910-483-7370.

Before a move or first school day

Save the current school calendar, keep copies of the application and school responses, and ask about any next steps that apply to your student. Confirm the assignment directly before using it to make a housing decision.
